Kahembe Cultural Tours is a community based tourism operation where by a percentage of the revenue goes to the local cumminities for them to spend on local development projects. The Tours all are environmentally and socially responsible and therefore have no negative impacts.

Cultural Tourism Programme  is a Community Based Organisation  Piloted in 1995 and executed with advice from SNV- the Netherlands Development  Organisation and the Tanzania Tourist Board.

ABOUT THE MANAGING DIRECTOR:

 Kahembe's  Culture and Wildlife Safaris is a Private Company owned by Mr. Joas Kahembe as a Founder and Managing Director. Cultural Tourism Programme  is a Community Based Organisation  Piloted in 1995 executed with advice from SNV- the Netherlands Development  Organisation and the Tanzania Tourist Board

Mr. Kahembe, born in 1942, studied in the then Lutheran Mission Schools until High  School when he joined Cooperative Unions and then studied Coffee Tasting under  the Mild Coffee Trade  Association of Eastern Africa. Worked  in the Coffee Trade as Coffee Taster and Export Manager. Traveled to Italy, UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands., US, and France Studied  Export Promotion at the Helsinki School of Economics. In 1992, Mr. Kahembe innovated the concept of Cultural  Tourism long before anyone else in Tanzania. Kahembe's Trekking and Cultural Safaris appear in all famous Tour Guide Books since 1994 in the Bradt Tanzania and Zanzibar, Lonely Planet Tanzania, Rough Guides, Footprints, Tanzania -Reise -know how, Appa  guide , Petit Fute, etc
