SEVEN DAYS AFRICAN RURAL LIFE ADVENTURE

From the Arusha Country Bus Station, board a 7.00 am Mtei Bus toKatesh/ Singida via Babati where you are joined by a Guide holding a poster marked Joas Kahembe/...................to Katesh arriving Katesh around 1.30 pm.
Late lunch and thereafter walk 5km to Dumbeta/Gijega Barbaig Village for Barbaig cultural insights/contrasts. The Barbaig is an authentic tribe; still conservative on their culture; cattle rearing , warrior like the famous Maasai with the women still wearing traditional ceremonial locally tanned goatskin gowns. Dinner and overnight in the Barbaig huts
Day Two:
Breakfast and then interact freely with this Barbaig Tribe., see how the locally make/sew their goatskin gowns; how the locally pound and grind maize (corn) flour; We do not organize any local dances, but you can chance marriage, circumcision, burial and prayer rituals. But since these Barbaig are warriors we organize a mock fight.. Afternoon walk back to Katesh for dinner and overnight.
Day Three:
Breakfast and thereafter walk 16km along the western side of Mt. Hanang to Gendabi Village arriving around 11.00 am. Visit the mixed Iraqw/Nyaturu tribes for cultural insights. Also visit Gendabi Primary School for free interviews with teachers and pupils on the Tanzania Education System. Visit the local beer social bars interacting with the people and joining in the local dances after a beer drinking spree. Meals and overnight at Gendabi.
Day Four:
Breakfast and thereafter with picnic lunch walk 8km to Lake Balangida (Gidewari) the salt sand lake where you visit local salt mines.
Lake Balangida is a salt sand lake where the surrounding local people gather salt for
their home consumption and also for use as cattle feed. Walk back for dinner and overnight at Gendabi.
Day Five:
At 6.00 am walk to the road junction where you catch a bus to Babati, late breakfast and thereafter walk
2 km to Maisaka Village where you visit a
Gorowa Tribe Elder Story Teller on how they arrange their marriages; how they
treat a girl who gets pregnancy before marriage; prayer rituals and their origin.
Walk back, lunch, rest and thereafter, walk 1 km to
Lake Babati for local canoe rowing while viewing floating hippos. Walk back for
dinner and overnight.
Day Six:
Breakfast and thereafter with lunch boxes walk/ride 10km to Managhat Village where you visit local brick making projects; dairy cattle and goat farming projects, a bio-gas project drinking tea/milk boiled using the bio-gas; climb mount Baambay where you eat your lunch box enjoying the view of the Rift Valley landscape with Lake Babati and the Rift Valley Escarpment in the background. Afternoon walk/cycle back to Babati for dinner and overnight
Day Seven:
Breakfast and thereafter board a Mtei Bus to Minjingu where you visit the Waarusha tribe for their cultural insights. The Waarusha are cousins of the famous Maasai, with similar cultures but more inclined to cattle and farming activities.
Afternoon have game walks along the Tarangire National Park game reserve area where you encounter free grazing zebra, impala, giraffe, warthog, wilderbeest etc. Meals and overnight at Minjingu.
Day Eight:
At 7.00 am board a bus to Arusha at the end of the tour.
